Dr. Matt Harsch is a valued veterinarian at River City Veterinary Hospital.
When he was eight years old, Dr. Harsch had a plump cocker spaniel named Tubby. One morning, he woke up to find that his dog couldn't walk, and when they took Tubby to a veterinarian, they discovered a ruptured disc in his lower back. After the veterinarians performed emergency surgery, Tubby was walking again in only 10 days! In that moment, Dr. Harsch realized the true power of veterinarians and decided to become one himself.
Dr. Harsch grew up with two brothers in Pendleton, Oregon. He attended Oregon State University to receive his Bachelor's degree in zoology, then earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2003. After graduation, he secured a year-long internship at a specialty practice in California before working as an emergency veterinarian in California and Boise, Idaho for the next eight years. Although he loved emergency medicine, Dr. Harsh found that the constant graveyard shifts were taking their toll on him. When Dr. Liddell approached him about working full-time as an Associate Veterinarian, he gladly accepted. Dr. Harsh immediately fell in love with River City Veterinary Hospital's fun staff and amazing clientele! Along with his love of emergency care, he has a special interest in internal medicine.
Dr. Harsch has been married to his lovely wife, Tricia, for 17 years. They have two children and also share their home with the cutest Springer Spaniel: Beans! When he isn't caring for pets here at the hospital or spending time with his family, Dr. Harsch enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, weight lifting, skiing, and cooking up a great barbecue.
